Help and Support Kevin Chen

Kevin is a well-loved member of our community and has been a friend to hundreds of kids, parents, faculty, coaches and more. Many of you have asked what we can do to help Kevin and his mom, Weining. Since he will be in the ICU in a fragile condition for many weeks and unable to receive visitors, flowers or food, we hope that asking the community to contribute towards his medical expenses is the best way we can all be helpful in the short-term.
 
Kevin will spend several weeks or months in the hospital. Then he will need 6 months to 2 years of round-the-clock care plus physical and occupational therapy to learn how to talk, walk, eat and resume normal daily activities. Anything collected through this fundraiser will go directly to pay Kevin’s medical bills which are not covered by his health insurance.
 
Kevin's mom, Weining is incredibly touched by the outpouring of love and support from the Harvard Westlake community. While she is reticent to accept help financial help, Kevin’s friends are more than willing to support her through this difficult time. We want her to have peace knowing she can look after Kevin without worrying about how she will pay for his care.
