Hi, my name is Troy, and I am reaching out to raise funds for my survival. That sounds large, I know, but illness is larger.
First things first, I’m an actress, singer, dancer, producer, director, writer, tour manager, accountant, and therapist to many. I am also a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. I have lived a full and blessed life. But I am also sick.
Right now, the suspects are cancer or an autoimmune disease, though there is no firm diagnosis yet. Whatever is happening is causing severe damage to my gums, and I may lose some or all of my teeth. I lost my job due to this creeping illness, and because Florida's support system is... well, lacking, I have no means to support myself or get long-term assistance of any kind. Disability and assistance programs require a diagnosis, which I can’t get without treatment. Catch-22, anyone?
I’m not asking for much, but if you have a few dollars to spare and can help another soul, I would deeply appreciate it. I know many people are suffering in silence themselves, so I understand if you can’t give, but please share my story.
