Help Andre Gaines Fight Cancer Year 2

     Hello, my brother, Andre is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He always has a smile on his face and makes you feel welcome no matter where he's at. He needs our help now more than ever as he continues this medical journey to being cancer-free and healthy.

 

     Andre found out that he had stage 3 cancer in his rectum and colon last February when he was 42. His tumor was completely obstructing his colon and was pushing on his bladder and kidney, causing immense pain and the need for immediate treatment. He gratefully has had 4 surgeries to quickly get his body functioning again. Those surgeries included getting a colostomy bag and a stint in his kidney. Since then, this past year, he has been battling this extremely aggressive cancer that has now spread to his bladder, ureter and kidney, causing daily physical pain. Last year his treatment was focused on shrinking the primary tumor with radiation and chemotherapy. Sadly, those treatments did not work and were unsuccessful because his tumor grew even bigger and has now spread. We found this out on the scan they did before surgery but had to postpone the surgery as his tumor has now engulfed his left ureter and a major artery on his left side.

     Currently, Andre is waiting to get a MRI. This scan will give a more detailed look at everything to help the doctors better prepare for surgery. If the slightest thing goes wrong, it could lead to uncontrollable blood loss and possible death. Andre's doctor plans to go before the tumor board on Wednesday, 3/23/22, to discuss a plan of action.

 

     My brother, Andre, struggles daily with physical pain from cancer. I have watched him take all this on confidentially; I have also seen him cry. This cancer thing is insane, and to be here with it is insane, and we only hope to make it day by day. Having a disease like cancer truly brings the saddest, most deepest feelings though full of love that are so real and so surreal all at the same time.

 

     With this fundraiser, we hope to help ease some pain and give Andre the best chance at life he can have. Cancer is so unfair, and if there's a way to make it better, it's helping each other in a time of need. Whether it is a share or a donation, I know Andre and his family will appreciate it greatly. By donating to this fundraiser, Andre can use the money to get better care and to survive while in the admis of treatments. The way love affects our hearts and our bodies during healing is a powerful thing. And speaking of power, Andre is a strong believer in Faith and God and continues to look up above for his truth and answers.
