Help Andrea and Her Sons Through This Heartbreak

When our siblings fall in love and get married, we don’t get a say in who they choose to be our new brother or sister. But I got lucky—my sister Andrea picked the absolute best. When she chose Troy, or as he quickly became known to us, "Chowy," she brought the most incredible person into our family.

Andrea and Troy were true soulmates—together, in 2008, they completed their family in the most beautiful way by adopting their three boys from Colombia, building a home filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

In an instant, a vibrant love story and a beautiful family were transformed into an unimaginable tragedy. On October 5, 2024, Troy passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind Andrea and their three boys to face a profound and heart-wrenching loss. Our hearts are shattered, and the void he leaves in our lives is immeasurable.

Troy was the kind of person you couldn’t help but love. He spent his life being a good dad, a loving husband, and an amazing son/brother/uncle. He was a board game master, a music connoisseur, a movie buff, a horror-aholic, a roller-coaster lover, a many-mile wanderer, a brainiac, a funny guy … a genuinely good person with a good heart and soul.

As Andrea, Sam (Carlos), Daniel, and Luis begin the challenging journey of navigating life without Troy, we hope to support the financial burdens accompanying such an unexpected loss. With Troy only being 46 years old, planning for such a loss was not something anyone had prepared for. Now, they face a daunting reality filled with funeral expenses, medical bills, and the sudden loss of two-thirds of their household income, making this an overwhelming time for the family.

Any support, whether big or small, will make a huge difference and help give Andrea and the boys the time and space they need to grieve without added financial worry.
