Help Andrea Jones's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
On August 24th, at just 30-years-old, Andrea Jones was diagnosed with fast-growing, Triple Positive Breast Cancer (TPBC).
Those who have been lucky enough to know Andrea know that her natural beauty shines even brighter once you get to know her. Andrea is an indescribably caring, humble, independent, nature-loving young woman who was working hard to better her life. For example, shortly before getting diagnosed with cancer, Andrea started the process of looking for a PhD program that would align with her goal of counseling new parents and families, a career that speaks perfectly to her selfless and empathic personality.
With the right treatment and support, this speed bump that was forced upon Andrea will be just that - a speed bump. Her dreams can still be reached. But it will be a long road before she can get there.
Treatment wise, Andrea has already started hormone blocking injections and has undergone multiple mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, and biopsies, as well as several blood draws and countless doctors meetings. These tests show that Andrea has a grade 2 tumor in her breast. There are still many unknown answers, but what we do know is that Andrea’s treatment plan will include a double mastectomy with reconstruction, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and possibly radiation. For the rest of her life, Andrea will need to take hormone blockers, get bi-yearly testing, and undergo multiple re-reconstructive surgeries. Instead of spending her 31st birthday celebrating in the mountains, she will be in the midst of dealing with all this.
While Andrea is an extremely stable, logical, down-to-earth young woman, this diagnosis is a gut-wrenching shock. As many of us have experienced first-hand, hard times are made easier when they are not stressful. Although financial stress is just one of the many unfortunate and unfair outcomes of fighting cancer, it is one we can help with. Financially, the medical bills, supplies, medications, supplements, diet changes, and lifestyle changes are racking up quickly, and Andrea will have to take extended time off of her career as an educator. Once this year or so of treatment is finished, she will still have to navigate financial stress related to a lifetime of medications, injections, testing, and surgeries. Please help us help Andrea so that she can fully focus on her medical treatment and on getting back to her positive, healthy life. Every dollar and share will be appreciated beyond words.
Throughout treatment, we will add updates to this page. In the meantime, your support and care are so very appreciated. Thank you!
