My name is Andrea Brodowski and I am a mother to two wonderful children (Kennedy 10 & Jeret 7) and a wife of 18 years to the love of my life, Jeff.
On November 28, 2016, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. It completely shocked me and my family and on December 15, I had a lumpectomy to remove the tumor. I am currently undergoing 6 aggressive chemotherapy treatments and will be undergoing a double mastectomy with reconstruction which will involve 2 more surgeries.
Prior to my diagnosis, I instructed the clinical component for the nursing program at Mount Royal University and have been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. My work through Mount Royal was on a contract basis and therefore, I do not have disability benefits which is putting quite a strain on my family financially. This fund has been set up to help lessen the financial burden and stresses that are associated with lost wages, medical expenses, hospital parking expenses and to assist my family through this difficult time so that I can concentrate and focus on my recovery during this long year.
