Help Andrea Lay David Burns to Rest

My name is Andrea Burns. My husband, David Burns passed away on September 4, 2024, after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Carcinoma Cancer. He was 76 years old. This diagnosis came two months before he passed away. The doctors recommended surgery to remove the tumor, but his condition worsened, and the cancer began to spread throughout his body. After more visits, they found it in his lungs, stomach and rectum. David's downward turn in health started in 2016, after being diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and various heart conditions that required him to receive treatment and saw him needing to take over 16 different medications daily. He loved life and was not afraid of death. He has been the sole bread winner in our home since we have been married but became very sickly in 2016 and retired in 2018. With the income he received his Social Security, it paid for our basic living expenses, but also went towards his medical needs. It became so burdensome that he could no longer afford to keep a few of the appointments and doctors due to the out-of-pocket expenses that arose. One such expense was a doctor he had to see that would cost $2,000 per visit, so we had to make the decision to cancel those visits, as we were unable to continue seeing him. As his health continued to decline, he had to withdraw money from his policies and retirement accounts to assist with his living and medical expenses. David did his very best for me as a husband to make sure I was ably taken care of in life and death, but as he saw that the provisions he made had to be used up, it brought on additional stress for us. We believed that even after his cancer diagnosis, we would have had enough time with each other, but between the time we found out and his death, time was no longer afforded to us. During the final stages of his life, he became immobile, unable to stand, losing over 50lbs during this two-month period and losing blood daily. David was a fighter and accustomed to being dependent. With that strength of character and wanting to help himself one day to walk on his own, led to him getting his leg trapped between a heavy door. When his leg got free, it was swollen and what looked like an abscess began to grow. He visited two doctors who both prescribed antibiotics, but nothing worked. With his constant loss of blood and with his foot getting no better, his doctor advised immediate operation. Due to the excess blood loss and his rare blood type, he was unable to get the blood he needed to receive proper treatment. My husband spent the last week of his life, doing what he loved, looking at the sea. David looked at the beach as much as he loved life. His spirit was free and his love for life was just the same. I lost a part of my life when he died, as I watched him die before me. Burying him still seems surreal, as I thought we would have more years together looking out at the sea, watching football, but our plans, are not God's plans and His plans are always best. I trust in Him to provide my comfort and bring me peace. In Jamaica, you are given one month to hold your dead one's body at the funeral home, after that month, they begin to charge JMD $5,000, which is the equivalent of USD $45 per day. I am seeking help to lay my husband to rest, as the cost to do so are overwhelming me. The daily fee charge begins to accumulate on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2024, and as I am financially burdened to find the initial funds for the funeral expenses, I am now met with these additional expenses. I am using this medium to seek assistance with all that has come upon me financially and will keep mounting if I do not bury him soon. I thank all in advance with whatever funds you find it in your heart to give. Your assistance, your love, your care and your kindness are all so greatly appreciated and cherished. May God bless you all!

Thank You,
Andrea Burns.
