Help Andres play basketball again

Hi! My name is Lourdes, Andres' mom. Last November, Andres suffered a patellar dislocation due for the fifth time. This was the second time he suffered a torn Medial Patellofemoral Ligament. The first time, in 2021, he was playing soccer, and tore his ligament. This injury required extensive surgery on his left knee. This time, in November of 2022, he was playing basketball. Not only had he suffered the same injury again, but his knee cartilage had also been damaged, which required a Matrix-induced autologous chondrocyte implantation (MACI) procedure. His first round of surgery, his second allograft, was in March with him going in for the MACI in June. Due to the trauma suffered by his knee, he needs extensive physical therapy. The doctors estimate that he will need about another year of physical therapy. Unfortunately, we have reached the maximum number of therapy appointments covered by our insurance. We are aiming towards full rehabilitation, so that he can go back to doing the things he enjoys. Before his injuries, Andres was always the most athletic of the family. He enjoyed spending time outside playing basketball or soccer with his friends, tossing a football in the alley. He was preparing to try out for basketball in the Spring of his Sophomore year (2022-23), however, his injury prevented him from playing. Between the pandemic, his injuries, and subsequent surgeries, he has spent a lot of his time stuck at home, which has taken a heavy toll on his mental health. We are asking for your help in providing our son with the ability to do the things he loves the most. Due to rising medical costs and other financial strains, we will not be able to afford any more therapies after July 27th, falling short of the estimated total. Please help us provide him the opportunity to do the things he loves again. Thank you.
