Help Andressa's Family and Community in Flood Recovery

My name is Andressa, I am 42 years old and I live in California. I am originally from Canoas - Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil, and more specifically from Mathias Velho area where recently the floods brutally impacted almost 100%, destroying all homes and businesses of that area. I have two sisters and one brother that had to be rescued by boat and lost EVERYTHING, but the most important thing is that they didn't lose their life.

My older sister Sandra, who is retired because she had cancer, lived with her husband and three dogs at a house where floods started in the middle of the night. They both went to the roof with the dogs and they took their 96-year-old neighbor to the roof as well. They stayed on the roof all night, until the end of the next day, without food and water. Thankfully, they got rescued by boat from the community.

My brother Selmar had a meat distribution business, and he was there trying to save the business and 6 dogs when it suddenly completely flooded and also had to go to the second floor of the business to be rescued. The dogs unfortunately were not rescued with him because they couldn't fit in the boat, but 4 of them were alive and 2 were missing. He lost 2 trucks, the building, and all the stock of meat and food, which also made him have more debt. Thankfully again, he was rescued by the local community.

My sister Simone lives in the same area with my brother-in-law, a dog, and a bird. She also had to battle cancer a little over a year ago. Her house and business were completely lost as well, but fortunately they didn't need to be rescued as they were able to get out before it completely flooded.

I am here now, asking for help, trying to raise funds to help my family and other people around them to get back together. When the water goes down, they will need a lot of things, rebuild house walls, floor, roof, bed, mattresses, fridge, stove, containers, cups, plates, sheets, towels, etc...

This money will be managed by my other sister Adriana, who is already helping the community with food because she runs restaurants in Canoas. She is already getting donations to prepare, and distribute the food to the shelters in the area. Thank you for all the volunteers that also lost everything and are helping her with this cause.
