Help Andrew Kilkenny Rebuild After Tragic Accident

Donation protected
Hi everyone, My name is Tabitha Kilkenny.

I’m running this page for us to show support to my younger brother Andrew Kilkenny who, as some of you may know was in a horrific car accident this past Wednesday August 28th.

In the early morning hours while on his way to work Andrew was hit head on, through no fault of his own. Immediately following impact, was then hit by a tractor trailer who couldn’t stop in time. This terrible accident has taken the life of one, & my brother is and has been in critical condition since. On that morning, Andrew had to be extracted from his vehicle. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was in cardiac arrest and without a pulse for around 30 minutes. The doctors didn’t give up, they worked so hard and brought him back to us. He has currently undergone 6 major life saving surgeries. It has been almost a full week since this tragedy struck, yet he is continually fighting, beating the odds and making slow improvements everyday.

Andrew is only 24 years old, & is the sole provider for his family, girlfriend (stormy) & almost 2 year old little girl (Elena). He was the happiest man to be able to provide that security and stability for them. Wednesday morning that right was stripped from him. Instead of going to work this past week, he lays in a hospital bed fighting for his life. Andrew is a jokester with the most innocent childlike spirit. He is one of the hardest working men I know. He has never been one to ask for a hand out or expect anything of anyone. If you know him you know this to be true. He truly loves the work he did, the things he’s learned and the people he’s met along the way. Above all else, He loves being a father, & provider. He worked hard for everything he has yet was always generous, with his time and even money, helping others where he could.

As you could imagine his body has been through severe trauma. The fact that he is still with us through all of this is a miracle in itself. Within the first 24 hours of being brought to the hospital, he had undergone 5 life saving procedures. To find and stop internal bleeding, which entails an incision from the top of his chest to the bottom of his abdomen. During that procedure the doctors found that every one of his organs were gravely damaged, and lacerated. All of his ribs were broken, his spleen was removed and surgeons were able to get the bleeding under control. His chest cavity and stomach have since needed to be reopened due to severe swelling of his intestines and other organs. That incision is still open as I write this. He has had multiple blood transfusions & is currently on CRRT dialysis to help his kidneys function.
He sustained serious injuries to 90% of his body, his legs were amongst the worst. They were severely crushed and due to the severity of those injuries and heightened risk of infection both legs had to be surgically removed above the knee.
So if this unimaginable incident wasn’t a nightmare enough my little brother is now a double amputee.

This has been an absolute tragedy and up until this point we have only sincerely asked for prayers in his healing and acceptance in all of this. Today, my family and I humbly come to you seeking donations, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to you. Any amount would be so appreciated.

As many of you know Andrew, recently moved his family from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. In hopes of starting anew and finding better opportunities for himself and his little family. He wanted to be closer to the beach and raise a little country girl. He secured a job and was working full time. He bought his family a beautiful forever home. Andrew signed that contract 3 short months ago. He had plans, and this just isn’t something you plan for. We are trying so hard for him, not only to stay a strong family unit but make sure that when he wakes up he still has that home to go back to. To celebrate life in.

With your very generous donations, the funds will be allocated to cover any of the medical bills that will come from this, which if I had to guess will be quite astronomical & in making sure his family is taken care of. I know Andrew is not able to speak for himself at the moment but I can assure you he would want to know Elena is taken care of & that a roof remain over her head. My family is doing the best we can to manage, but we need your help. My wish is that Andrew can wake up from this and not have to stress about paying for all of the measures in which were used to quite literally save his life, rather put all of his energy into making a successful recovery & accepting his new normal. This has completely changed the course of his life.

We understand the cost of living, the cost of everything is taking a toll on all of us. However, none of us were prepared for such an unimaginable, tragic event & we’re asking for any donations you can spare. Our family would be eternally grateful for any amount, to go towards helping Andrew. If you can’t donate please don’t feel bad but I do ask you simply say a meaningful prayer for my brother and his healing and to share this out to as many people as you can.
He has such a long road ahead of him and possibly many more surgeries and rehabilitation.

While Andrew continues to fight for his life, we can fight along side of him to help lessen the financial burden this is unfortunately going to cause him, when he wakes up to find out his entire life has changed.
