Help Andrew's Family Through This Medical Crisis

My son Andrew has been fighting an unknown illness since June. Daily vomiting episodes and consistent headaches. By July, he was admitted to the Pediatric Hospital due to dehydration after an extra rough week of vomiting and having no appetite. This daily struggle has continued since. When school started in September, we noticed some peculiarities in his demeanor. He developed a head tilt and squinted his eyes to focus. By late September, this had progressed into his right eye getting “lazy” and seemed to be looking towards his nose when he was trying to look straight ahead.

We knew something was wrong at this point and were pushing to get answers. The Pediatrician finally agreed for us to get back to the hospital urgently on Oct. 2nd for an MRI. We did and I'm glad we did.

The MRI found a tumor in the back of Andrew’s brain, along his brain stem, which was unnoticed on a CT back in July. After new discoveries with the MRI, it was clear that fluid was building in his brain due to the tumor slowly growing and causing a blockage.

We have been in the ICU since, waiting for surgery to work and investigate the tumor more. However, on Oct. 4th, Andrew was experiencing worsening headache symptoms. Another CT scan and they immediately opted to push him into the OR to have an EVD inserted to drain the fluid that was building and relieve the pressure in his skull.

Thankfully, this has helped tremendously to give him some comfort, but with the unknowns of the tumor still pending surgery scheduled for Oct. 7th...

Due to recently moving to a new town and starting my job only a few months ago, this event is going to set us back significantly financially. From gas to food to normal life expenses, I feel I have no other choice but to push my ego down and take this avenue to seek assistance for my family as we work through the journey of the unknown to come.
