Help Andy Overcome Eviction and Health Challenges
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andy and I am humbly asking for your help.
I am facing eviction without the financial means or other housing options to prevent homelessness. Being displaced from my home will bring an end to the limited income I can currently manage working from home. Your assistance with rent will stabilize my housing situation and give me time to benefit from recent changes to my healthcare and take advantage of the Pennsylvania employment-assistance programs I’ve recently qualified for.
Over the past six months, my mental and physical health has degraded to the point that I’ve needed to pursue additional care. This has included psychological evaluation, new medications, and additional treatment for the osteoarthritis in both my shoulders. In February, I was assessed as bipolar 2, began treatment for adult adhd, and continued seeing a licensed autism counselor twice a week. Although the medical coverage that I have handles much of the costs, it doesn’t cover everything.
On top of this, also in February, I was let go from a job that I’ve worked at for nearly 8 years. I’ve been able to hang on with a little temp and freelance work here and there – I’ve been very fortunate to connect with some amazing people – but my needs can no longer depend on this kind of work. The psych-eval designated me as “significantly disabled“ and qualified me for state programs that assist people with finding employment that fits their needs. I have been working with a wonderful program called AHEDD since the beginning of April and am very hopeful.
I’ve struggled with a lot recently but I haven’t given up. I receive wonderful care; have reignited my obsession with books and reading; and my little sweetie, Honey, the cat I adopted from the Humane Society in 2022, continues to be the bright spot in my life. But with every hurdle and challenge my mental health erodes more, making every day a bit harder.
Your help will make a huge difference and will be used to cover my rent as I search for my next career. It will keep me in my home, it will remove the specter of eviction, it will allow me to continue pursuing freelance work while I seek regular employment, and it will prevent the interruption of my healthcare.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like more information, I would be happy to set aside time for us to connect. And I’m always open to advice. I’ve never requested help like this before and it is not easy. I really don’t know if I should expect anything from this, but please believe any assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated and not forgotten.
