Help Angel Become a Leader in DC!

This summer, Angel Martinez-Perez, an eighth grader at Memphis Rise Academy, a public, open-enrollment charter school in Memphis, Tennessee, has the opportunity to develop his leadership as an attendee of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.! Angel has garnered the respect of his teachers and peers for his unwavering commitment to his growth and consistent excellence. This year, a handful of 8th-grade students were nominated to attend the JrNYLC, which is a week-long conference that develops students' leadership abilities through activities, workshops, tours, and more. Angel's nomination was accepted, and so was his scholarship application essay, which awarded $500 towards his trip; however, the total cost, including tuition, travel, and food, will be about $3,500. Angel will have the chance to discover key leadership traits, understand civic engagement, and organize peers to achieve change. Few other students are as prepared as Angel when it comes to learning and applying lessons from an experience like this - I hope you can contribute whatever you can to help Angel attend this conference in D.C. this summer!
