Help Angel get her insulin treatment
Donation protected
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body destroys insulin-producing cells, so daily insulin injections are needed. Managing it also requires monitoring blood sugar, counting carbs, and adjusting insulin doses. In Luxembourg, T1D patients are usually taken care very well and have access to insulin and other very helpful monitorings for free, thanks to the health assurances.
In Kenya is living a girl whose name’s Civilian Angel Carlo. 3 years ago she got diagnosed of Type 1 Diabetes. In Kenya, people don’t have an assurance for them to cover their insulin treatment and many are just not able to buy it due to extreme poverty. For 3 years now Angel’s mom is struggling to buy Angele’s expensive insulin to just keep her alive. For 3 years now, Angel is living in the fear of death just because she is born with something that doesn’t allow her to live for free.
Only a few days ago, Angel’s mom lost her job. Only a few days ago, Angel couldn’t afford any insulin anymore. For 3 whole days she didn’t use her life keeping treatment. Right now she got hospitalised and is getting an insulin Baxter until her blood sugar eventually normalises.
What Angel has to try to survive right now won’t work out forever.
In December, Angel’s mom will do a 6 hours travelling to join my dad who’ll be in Tanzania, Kenya’s neighbour land, to get some insulin and other very helpful monitorings brought from Luxembourg. Of course, buying treatments without receipt still costs something here. So, we’re trying to make funds to help buy as many things as we can be able to take with, for Angel to have enough treatment until they eventually, someday, get taken in charge by an association.
