Help Angela get to Worlds with USA Triathlon

Hi! Angela Buckley here. I am raising funds to go to Worlds representing Team USA in the Aquathlon in Ibiza Spain in 2023.

How did I qualify for Team USA?

Covid has been wreaking havoc on so many things, including in-person racing. In early 2021 a sense of normalcy began to return as the US began to roll out the vaccine. In-person racing was starting to take off again. Cautious yet excited race directors suddenly flooded my inbox with races. One race was the National Qualifier for Team USA Aquabike - swim and bike! My two favorites!

In a whirlwind of activity, I decided last minute to race. On the Tuesday morning before the National Qualifier, I took my 2nd Covid vaccination. On Wednesday, I registered for the race and bought an airline ticket. On Thursday, I rented a U-haul van. On Friday, I flew to Florida, picked up the van and headed to the race venue. Due to my late booking, I didn't even have a hotel room. I slept in the van, assembled my bike, and showed up to race at 5 am.

The race started 7 am on Saturday morning. My heart rate indicated that I still had not recovered from the Covid vaccine. I discovered that I had forgotten my wetsuit. So, I raced cautiously. It was my first open water swim I had in over two years. I had almost no swim training over the winter due to Covid protocols. It was not my fastest swim...to say the least.

I had prepared well on the bike, though. And, my efforts were enough. I placed 4th and earned a spot on Team USA as an age-grouper.

Will you help support my travel? Get me to Abu Dabhi so I can put forth my best effort? I'm looking to raise $5,000 to defray these travel costs.
