Hello friends and family,
As some of you know...in 2018 my mother was struck on her scooter, breaking her pelvis. This jumpstarted the start of her living hell and I now fear for my mother's life if she cannot be seen by the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.
After being cleared by her Orthopedic surgeon for PT, we set off on her healing journey. Over the past year, things took a turn for the worse. It started with a limp and as the months progressed, her nights became pain filled and sleepless. She started walking with a cane but mobility was decreasing.
Fast forward to today and my mother is nearly completely bed bound and uses a wheelchair. She's losing weight rapidly, can barely eat or sleep and her insulin for her diabetes is $200. She has to take pain medication from sun up to sun down and she still is up throughout the night in crying pain.
We are working to get her onto disability but need a new diagnosis, and in the meantime, it's all out of pocket. Every doctor we see refers us to another specialist.
The Mayo Clinic is requiring a $5,000 down payment before they'll see her.
Her neurologist is requiring $400 a month to see her.
She's unable to work and the bill has been too much for me to take on by myself. I'm a single mom trying to keep my mom alive.
Every little bit will help keep her on her life sustaining medication for her heart disease, lupus, type 2 diabetes and pain medication.
It will help her get to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and see the specialists she was seeing in Rochester, MN.
It will allow her to see the cardiologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, psychiatrist and ultimately get her onto disability and not have to worry about if she can afford insulin next month.
