Help Anibal Win This Battle

Our dad has had quite a battle since the beginning of this year… And he’s still fighting to live!

My name is Andrea and I’m the oldest daughter of Anibal Luzardo; my younger brother, Anibal Andres, my mom, Jazmin, and I decided that we wanted to share my dad's medical situation with you.

Anibal has recently turned 51 years old and is currently in the hospital in Venezuela fighting a severe infection that got complicated due to being a diabetes patient.

In January of 2023, he had a heart attack that was caused by an extreme increase of his blood sugar levels, and almost had a stroke as well, but he was sent to the hospital on time to be treated. A little over a week after that, he was discharged and was feeling better, doctors just told him to start going for walks everyday for his heart to keep healing.

After a couple months, he noticed a big abscess in his bottom area and later we found out it was caused by a tick bite. It was getting worse due to the diabetes so it was decided to take him to the hospital where doctors did some tests and ultimately was diagnosed with a very advanced Fournier’s Gangrene infection which was spreading and causing his genital areas to be severely compromised.

We decided to create this Go Fund Me because in Venezuela, hospitals need all the supplies to do all surgery and wound care, so we have to buy all of them, they ask us for basic things like gauze pads, sterile gloves and alcohol, and even scalpels, laparotomy kits, and medications like ephedrine, rocuronium bromide, fentanyl, and so on.

He’s had over three surgeries, including a colostomy. In the next couple of months, he will be having a reconstructive surgery where we will have to buy more supplies, as well as all of those needed for wound care that he will be needing to get done for the upcoming months, and all the blood work and tests they’ve been doing since day one to follow up his levels of glucose, urea, creatinine, etc., need to be paid for as well.

It would mean a lot if you would help us save our dad; all I want for him is to overcome this situation and for me to be able to see him again, as I currently live in Canada and haven’t been able to see my family in over 6 years because of my refugee status here. I would love to see him, healthy and happy.
