Help Animal Sanctuary Escape Persecution by Hostile Group

After five years of rescuing animals in challenging conditions, Namigni Animal Sanctuary is in crisis.

After relocating to Southern Colombia for greener pastures and escaping severe drought, we now face threats and farm invasions following slander from a local rancher. Fear endangers both caregivers and hundreds of rescued animals, while extreme heat and aggressive wildlife harm their well-being. We're all at risk and we urgently need to relocate to safety.

URGENT: Help Save Namigni Animal Sanctuary!

Six months ago, we relocated from the Bogota region to Tolima, seeking a safer, more suitable home for +300 rescued animals. Instead, we found danger. Since December, the sanctuary’s security has rapidly deteriorated. Local cattle ranchers launched severe slander, followed by property invasions, ongoing threats, and a terrifying atmosphere for both caregivers and the hundreds of rescued animals we have here.

Extreme heat and aggressive wildlife have further harmed the animals’ health, making it impossible to remain here.

Despite reporting these threats to the local police and the Attorney General’s Office, the situation continues to escalate. The growing danger is deeply alarming, especially given the worsening security crisis in Colombia, particularly in remote rural areas where law enforcement is limited. We cannot wait for this to spiral further out of control.

Our sanctuary has faced immense challenges. At our first location, we endured attacks from an illegal group while also battling a devastating drought. Now, after relocating and only recently settling into a new home, we are once again being forced to move due to hostile actions by individuals violating both the law and our fundamental rights—not to mention the rights and well-being of the animals in our care. We have hundreds of cows, bulls, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs, dogs and other animals under our care.
