Hello! My name is Anna, the writer and director of <Broken Puzzle>, a short film about 3 women who have to try to cover up an accident they have caused. To make things worse, they were all dating the same man, so they need to work together despite their mutual hate. Will they learn things along the way? Will they still love that man despite finding out more and more lies about him?

 

 

About the Director: I studied acting at USC, the University of Southern California, while also studying Korean and getting a minor in Korean Studies. After working in Los Angeles for a couple years, I decided to try to pursue acting in South Korea. After acting in dramas, films, and commercials, I decided I wanted to create my own stories and own characters, especially foreign characters residing in Korea. That is where one of the lead characters of <Broken Puzzle>, "Sera" was developed. I hope to continue to create films, and after <Broken Puzzle> I am going to be working on a web-series with a group of Korean actors, producers and artists.

 

Director's purpose:

<Broken Puzzle> is my thesis and graduation film at Chungang University. I am hoping to delve into ideas of collaboration, differences, and lies in this film. Through meeting many "conflicts" (drunk men, angry landlords) the women learn about each other and themselves. I will be honest though, I want this film to be fun, and maybe a little crazy.

 

I studied films such as Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope", and Danny Boyle's "Shallow Grave", and Ridley Scott's "Thelma and Louise", along with many Korean films when preparing <Broken Puzzle>. Humanity under pressure is always an interesting thing to consider.

 

Budget:

The budget for the film will be mainly based on the number of staff, cast, location, and equipment.

There will be 3 days of filming, along with multiple rehearsal days for actors.

Funding is needed not only for production, but these rehearsals, post production, and festival distribution.

 

 

We have a mixed staff, from Korea, the US, Europe, and Mexico. Our cast consists of both Korean and and American actress. I'm hoping through the collaboration of the amazing staff, and actors, we will create a unique, fun, and interesting film.

 

The top 10 supporters/funders will receive exclusive behind the scenes footage of the filming <Broken Puzzle>.

 

In addition, the top 5 supporters/funders for the film will be invited to an exclusive zoom interview with both Director, Actors, and main staff.

 

If 50% of funding is met, all supporters residing in Korea will be invited to a private viewing of the film!
