A Special Gift for Anna's Mother Battling Cancer

Hi, my name is Anna, and I am reaching out to ask for your help in getting my mother a much-needed gift.

 

My mother, Ms. Gilchrist - who loved ones affectionately call 'Nita' - was diagnosed with Stage 4 uterine cancer in August of last year.  Although she remains in high spirits, my mother - who is currently experiencing heart, lung, and digestive complications - is too weak to work while receiving her chemo treatments and has no family close by to help her. I travel from New Jersey to Virginia to visit her every other weekend and have been helping her out as much as I can with food and other necessities. We have also been working on getting her financial assistance and disability with no luck as of yet, so trying to take care of things such as housing has been especially challenging.

 

The last time I visited, my mother's landlord informed me that my mother was behind in her rent by several months, and if she didn't pay at least four months back rent by the end of May, they would have to rent the room to a new tenant. In her current state, my mother having to move would be extremely strenuous on her body and potentially fatal. This is especially true if she has to move in with family, where she will be hundreds of miles away from her doctors and could delay her treatment.

 

I was able to help by giving her landlord two months' worth of back rent. However, that is all I have at the moment, and a month is unfortunately not enough time for me to save more.

 

This news could not have come at a worse time, so I am asking if you could find it in your heart to donate what you can and help me raise enough money to help cover both her back rent. That way, my mother can focus on her health while we continue to find her some financial assistance to cover her costs in the months ahead.
