HELP ANNE ABERNATHY COMPETE IN THE OLYMPICS
Donation protected
Help Anne Abernathy achieve her life goal of competing in her 7th Olympics - 2024 in Paris.
A cancer survivor, this will be Anne's final Olympics.
Anne Abernathy is on target to qualify for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics in Archery.
For most athletes, this alone is certainly a remarkable undertaking. In Anne's case, it is unprecedented.
Her first 6 Olympics were in the Winter sport of Luge where she was known as “Grandma Luge”. She is the first woman to qualify for 6 consecutive Winter Olympics (1988 - Calgary, 1992 - Albertville, 1994 - Lillihammer, 1998 - Nagano, 2002 - Salt Lake City, and 2006 - Torino). When Anne competed in 2002 at 48 years old, she broke the age barrier as the oldest woman to participate in the Winter Games. Then in 2006, Anne set the record for the oldest woman to qualify for the Winter Games at 52 years old.
Transitioning to archery, Anne started her competitive journey in 2012. Qualifying for the 2024 Paris Summer Games would mark an extraordinary return to France since she competed there in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics -- 32 years between appearances! She would be the first Olympic archer to have also competed in any Winter games.
Anne is World-Ranked and must continue to compete to meet the minimum qualifications to attend the Paris Games. The needed funds are to cover the competition and travel costs for the remaining Olympic Qualifying events and to train full-time with her coach.
In her 70s, Anne is a living testimony to the simple principle that we do not have to be defined by our age.
