Help Annie spend time with her sick husband

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Melissa and I am fundraising for a dear friend of mine.

I met Annie back in 2013 when our girls sat together on their first day of kindergarten. They became firm friends, and our families too.

In March 2022, Annie's husband Alex was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive brain tumour with a poor prognosis typically 9 - 18 months. He has been unable to work since his diagnosis and Annie has confided in me many times that she is terribly torn. She needs to work - as life (and cancer) is expensive, but she knows these might be the final months she will have with her beloved husband.

Alex has epilepsy as a result of the tumour, and requires significant medical and personal support.

In our lifetime, we will know, one, perhaps two couples, that those looking in, long to be like. This is that couple! Annie and Alex are tremendously fun, ridiculously in love and even with cancer, such positive people.

I have asked how can we help more times than I can remember and in one of our chats recently she mentioned that she’s absolutely exhausted, terrified of losing her best friend and desperate to make the most of her time with Alex. I asked her, what do you need to make that a reality?

She confided she simply can't afford not to work. So after discussing with the family, I've decided to give a gofundme page a go. If we can raise enough money, she will be able to reduce her hours and spend more time with Alex.

So please I ask you, anything you can contribute would be much appreciated. It would mean being able to take some extended leave from work, being more available to her two children who are also struggling and spending quality time with the man she cannot imagine life without.

Thank you so much for your kindness.

All donations will go directly to the family – their bank account has been added to this fundraiser, not mine.
