Help Anthony get a new hip

Basically I need a new hip.

After age damage and two really bad falls (the last at New Year which knocked me for six), I really need an operation to replace my left hip. I was told that an NHS waiting list, when operations start again, will take over 2 years to reach me. The deterioration is getting worse and waiting that length of time will effectively disable me. Going private will be expensive but it is my only viable option. I have talked to the surgeon and the waiting period would reduce to months.

I hate asking but it would be great to get some help. 

Basic costs are £10,500 for the op plus consultation fees and other bits and pieces. At this point in my life, I will struggle to cover this, though I do have some savings and finance in place. The obvious route would be to get a loan but getting a loan would be challenging due to age 

I’ve never done this before and feel a bit embarrassed asking for help. I’m usually the one giving help. But I know I do have a lot of friends and colleagues whose lives I have touched over the years. If everyone were to give the cost of coffee and a cake to help me out then that would go a long way to covering the costs 

The operation will certainly give me back my freedom, allow me to work comfortably again, sleep properly, walk my dog and put the fun back in her life (and mine).
