Help Anthony recover after head on collision

Donation protected
Hi my name is Denise McGrew-Kane and I am the sister of Anthony Macera. On the morning of January 9th, during the catastrophic storms that hit the central coast, Anthony was on his way to work when he was involved in a head on collision on Lake Nacimiento Rd. He was is a small Nissan hatchback and the other vehicle was a full size truck. Anthony had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. He was intubated and put in a medically induced coma and underwent emergency surgery that lasted over 12 hours. His injuries are many. His right arm is shattered in multiple places, both legs are severely broken with compound fractures, both femurs broken, clavicle broken, several facial fractures, his colon and small intestines ruptured, bruised lungs and many fractured ribs. He will remain in an induced coma for the coming days and is undergoing another 5 hour surgery today (Jan 10th for his left leg). He will likely have additional surgeries later this week.

This is a devastating, life altering accident. Anthony has a wife, Monique, and they have a 14 month old son. Anthony is the hardest worker and sole provider for his family. He had been working 2 jobs as a mechanic to support his family and just last week had started a new job with PG&E at Diablo Canyon as a Nuclear Operator (he was on his way to work there when the accident occurred). He was so excited about this new position!

Anyone who knows Anthony can attest to what an amazing person he is. The kind of person you feel lucky to have in your life. He is the kind of person who will drop anything to help a friend in need. He loves his family deeply and was working so hard to continue to provide for them so his wife could stay home with their son. His 14 month son is the light of his life.

If you know Anthony and Mo, you also know that they are self sufficient, very prideful and never are the kind of people to ask for help of any kind.

The road ahead will be a very long one. They estimate that it will be 6-10 months of recovery and rehabilitation. With Anthony being the sole financial provider for his family, their financial situation over the coming year is grim and they are going to need help to be able to pay their mortgage, medical bills and living expenses so he can focus on healing and getting better.

We appreciate any help financial help or prayers that you can offer.
