Help Anto Neosoul Create Libraries for Nairobi Kids
Donazione protetta
Help build JazzA Library in Nairobi for underserved communities.
Hi, my name is Lynne and my friend Anto Neosoul founded Jazza Library in Nairobi, Kenya.
Picture this, ONLY 4 public libraries exist in Nairobi, despite the fact that there are OVER 1 MILLION public primary school kids.
They are few and far apart, not fully resourced and not always fully open especially when needed over the weekend.
In 2023, Anto was challenged by the lack of public libraries in underserved communities. Born in a poor background in the slums of Kawangware, Anto was lucky enough to attend a well-funded public primary school that exposed him to a library with resources that enabled him to become fluent, eloquent, and increase his confidence regardless of his background. This in turn propelled him to national fame with his mastery of public speaking and won him and Lavington Primary School many performance awards from a tender age.
Anto is cognizant of the fact that had he not been exposed to such a wide range of learning material, he would not have been exposed to the world and immense possibilities that it provided.
This reality isn't true for children in Kenya; especially children from poor backgrounds. Anto is one of the few and it is in his best interest to give back and provide the same “ladder” for others to scale and gain from education literacy.
This is what drives JazzALibrary; that we can bridge the gap for these children and offer them a chance at an equitable opportunity that doesn’t prejudice them before they can be active citizens.
What does JazzALibrary Need:
- Containers to repurpose into libraries
- Funds to remodel the libraries with infrastructure including digital reading stations as well as electricity (solar or grid)
- Funds to build institutional support registration, design work, website, human capacity to set up the trust/charity.
- Donated and purchased literature from across Africa - pan African content that allows these children to “travel” and be exposed to their continent.
- Arts and Crafts Material to keep them busy and creative.
- Chess Boards - active minds build critical thinkers.
- Musical Instruments and donations for the musically inclined.
We would appreciate any amount to help make this dream come true.
Thank you! ♥️
