Help Anya and her family
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kathy Shipp and this is a fundraiser for Anya Magnuson and her family as they work through this traumatic time. Here’s a quick background from Anya’s CaringBridge site.
Anya was hit by an SUV while crossing a street in Uptown. Anya has multiple serious fractures (femur, pelvis, skull, tibia-fibula, sacrum, right eye) and a major traumatic brain injury. She is sedated and not very responsive at HCMC. Anya is also a badass cancer survivor who graduated from ASU and completed several professional journalism internships despite treatment that included four brain surgeries, two spine biopsies and in-patient chemo during college.
Anya’s family appreciates all of your support. Although much is unknown at this point, we do know that Anya's recovery will be measured in weeks and months and years. Even with insurance, the costs will be substantial. The GoFundMe goal has been adjusted upward with that in mind. We all know they are in our hearts, and here’s a way to extend that love out in a real way.
All donations will be used to help with the cost of medical treatments and Anya's continuing care and rehabilitation. If you'd rather donate via Venmo, please use: Colleen-Kelly-123 (last 4 of phone: 4179).
If you would like to read more about Anya's initial illness and brain surgeries, check out the photo essay on her website. (The story was done before the cancer was diagnosed.)
You can learn more about her rare cancer at the Erdheim Chester Disease Global Alliance.
