Hello! My name is Jenn, and I am a very good friend of and dogsitter for Jane. But who I am isn't important at the moment. What IS important is who I am raising funds for: Apollo, a beloved and cherished Pomeranian who just celebrated his first birthday! Apollo's mommy, Jane, works VERY hard to provide for herself, Apollo, and Apollo's big brother, Finn, and this huge and unexpected expense is something she cannot afford, so we're turning to the loving dog and cat community for help getting Apollo through this painful nightmare. Please help us help Apollo recover, so he can get back to living his best doggo life with big brother Finn and bestest mommy Jane!

Yesterday night (Friday, 02/21/2025), Apollo was viciously attacked by an unattended Pit bull. Jane immediately intervened rescued Apollo and immediately rushed him to a nearby emergency vet (PETS ER in Lancaster, PA), but despite the immediate intervention, the damage was swift and severe: Apollo has multiple, deep bite wounds and lacerations around the right side of his throat and shoulder, as well as some lesser wounds on his head. Although his jugular (that provides the main blood supply to the body, and if injured Apollo would have bled out and died) was missed by less than a centimeter, there is ongoing bleeding and fluid leakage, and we were updated today (Saturday, 02/22/2025) Apollo will need immediate surgery to investigate and resolve that bleeding.

INJURIES & ONGOING RESULTING SIDE EFFECTS AND PROBLEMS:
- ongoing bleeding and plasma leakage from deepest bite wounds ~ surgery required to investigate & fix
- bite wounds/lacerations to head (mostly superficial)
- deep bite wounds to throat (jugular missed by less than a centimeter)
- bite wounds/lacerations to right shoulder
- breathing difficulties and lower oxygen saturation (Apollo has been in a breathing tent to help him breathe easier)
- white gums, indicating blood loss and lower O2 saturation
- back leg weakness with difficulty standing
- inability to sit; can only lay/recline on one side at this time
- abnormal blood test results (kidney and liver function - this is being looked into)
- infection concerns from bites
We don't know what the total bill for Apollo's care will look like, but so far the estimate is $2,431.44 - and that estimate was from Friday night during the initial consultation, before Saturday afternoon, when it was discovered during a bandage change Apollo would need surgery. We will post an updated invoice as soon as we receive it.

Apollo means EVERYTHING to his mommy, Jane, and he is EVERYTHING AND THEN SOME to his big brother, Finn! Please help us help Apollo so he can reunite with his family!
(Last but certainly not least: from a legal standpoint, the situation with the Pit bull and its owner is being addressed from every possible legal angle, and police and animal control have already been notified and will be followed up with regularly to ensure justice is followed through with. Unfortunately, pursuing every available avenue of justice for Apollo will take considerable time, patience, and effort; and this will not help Apollo with the cost of his recovery at all in the meantime. Any and all suggestions of legal recourse is welcome - please contact Jane and/or Jenn directly at jb82867ATgmailDOTcom (Jane) / jforeacreATgmailDOTcom (Jenn).)
