Help Appalachian State Lacrosse Rebuild After Storm

Hello all!

We are the Men's Club Lacrosse team at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina! We are super excited to begin our spring season in the coming weeks after our fall semester was cut short do to the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. We are almost entirely player funded and have gotten very little support from our school. Especially compared to what our competitors in our league get from their schools, we get virtually nothing. We are currently in the middle of securing field space for both practices and homes games as Hurricane Helene rendered our traditional playing space unusable.

Our University Recreation department no longer provides any sports with field space for practice or games. We are the only club field sport hosting home games in Boone this year. Because of this, we had to seek out game space at a local high school with our own personal club funds. This costs us ~$600 dollars a game before variable fees. In accordance with Watauga County Public schools policy, we secured a 2 million dollar per occurrence P&C commercial general liability placed in E&S markets, insurance policy in order to use the facility. This costs us ~$500-600 annually.

We also had to seek out practice space at a local soccer facility with our own personal club funds. This costs us $100 an hour.

Appalachian State University Recreation has never provided us with trainers or medics for practices and just recently informed us that they will not provide them for home games either. In order to secure medics for our games to ensure the safety of our and other teams players, this will cost us another ~$600 per game.

As you can imagine, these costs put together are far beyond the scope of our small, mostly player funded team. With your help, we can get lacrosse back up and running in the high country and our team can get back to doing what they do best; playing lacrosse.
