Help April Honor Michael with a Loving Tribute

Donation protected
Hello all, my name is Katherine D, I have come to make this Gofundme in regards to my neighbor April. Earlier last week, we had been given the news that her son Michael had suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. He was a few days short of his 37th birthday. Although I had only met Michael once and spoke on the phone with him a few times, it was clear how much he cared and loved his family and friends; most importantly his mother April. To tell you a little more about Michael that I have learned over the past few days in processing the grief his mother has been going through, she reminisced on his bright personality and many interests. Michael was a huge fan of sports, his favorite teams being the 49-ers and the Yankees. His day to day attire consisted of one of his many jerseys from either of those teams, paired with his cross necklace. Although Michael was physically impaired with only having one leg, he made time each day to call his mother and talk to her on the phone. He was very proud of how far she has come in conquering the challenges of losing her sight just a few years ago, and he would be the first one she would call to tell him of her accomplishments such as going to get the mail on her own, cooking for herself, and bringing the garbage cans to and from the street. Their bond was something tangible to those like myself who had a small peek into the love this mother and son had for one another. Although the funeral plans and visitation to see Michael one last time did not go according to plan, due to the high cost surrounding the death and proper laying to rest of a loved one, the ability to keep Michael close by to his mother is attainable. The funeral home offers a hand made fingerprint pendant of the deceased so that it can be worn on a necklace and close to the heart of those grieving. As I had mentioned prior, April does not have the ability to look at photos of her son due to being blind, but she has a keen sense of touch, and would be able to feel the ridges of Michael’s fingerprint on her pendant when she is having a hard time. In regards to the funding, the prices set on the funeral home’s website for this necklace are not able to be adapted to those who rely on disability payment. The strength we have lies in our community to lift others up in times of need, and support them when they are struggling. Every donation no matter how big or small is a help to reaching the end goal of allowing a mother to be reunited with her son. Thank you all for your time in reading this message. Rest in peace Michael Capitti III, you are so loved.
