Help April with her recent hospital stay

Donation protected
I don’t normally share this personal information with everyone, but we could really use some financial help to help us recover from my latest unexpected 2 week hospital stay. A little background… I suffer from 2 chronic autoimmune diseases. Immune thrombocytopenia: a disease in which my bone marrow creates enough platelets, but my immune system destroys them at the same time, leaving me with a deficiency of platelets. Antiphospholipid syndrome: a disease in which my blood clots at an increased rate, causing clots to form in vital organs such as my lungs, heart, kidneys, adrenal glands, and potentially my brain. I tend to get sick very easily and suffer from chronic migraines. During flare ups, the clotting becomes uncontrollable resulting in an extended hospital stay. On 03/27, I went to St. Elizabeth’s hospital around 11:30pm because I had left sided neck pain, numbness off/on in my left arm, a severe headache, and was seeing spots. They did blood work that revealed my troponin levels were through the roof and my clotting rate was high, indicating that I may have had a heart attack and possibly a stroke due to clotting. After doing a chest CT, they found that I had several blood clots in both of my lungs. The MRI of my brain ruled out the possibility of stroke thankfully. Given the rareness of my autoimmune disease, I left St. Elizabeth’s and headed to MD Anderson Houston for my treatment. I got to MD Anderson around 11:30pm on 03/28 and they immediately started investigating my ailments and began medications to get everything under control. I had multiple CT’s, MRI’s, EKG’s, echocardiograms, and ultrasounds at MD Anderson over the course of the week while trying different medication regimens to treat my out of control antiphospholipid syndrome that was causing the clots in various organs. Everything seemed to be under control, so I was sent home Saturday 04/01. Shortly after getting home, I started having severe pain in my back. It kept me up all night and was so bad that I started throwing up. We rushed back to MD Anderson early morning 04/02 to find that both my adrenal glands were not getting sufficient blood flow. They did a heart cath that confirmed I’d had a heart attack as well. Not sure if this had happened previously or if it was another one, they couldn’t tell. So at this point, I have clots in both lungs, both adrenal glands/kidneys, and evidently had one (or more) go through my heart causing a heart attack. My troponin levels continued to trend upwards, so they did a transesophageal echocardiogram to get a better look at the back of my heart. This revealed some thickening of my mitral valve. After 2 weeks in the hospital, we finally had everything under control and I was able to return home. This whole event has created a huge financial burden on us that we were not expecting. Please help us recover from this scary situation by donating what you can. Anything helps. We would really appreciate it.
