Help Aranka and Colby

This small family needs your help. Aranka Matolcsy is a single mother of a beautiful boy with Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADD/ADHD. She was once a vibrant, altruistic contributing member of her community, within five years of the birth of her severely needy child she has been brought to her knees. Crippled from working and mired by hopelessness and despair by systems that are supposed to be in place for her and her child. She and her son are falling through the cracks of the broken systems of Social Security, the DHHS and public education. This is a mother living in constant survival mode. She desperately needs safe and appropriate education and transportation her child so she can work for the money that pays her mortgage while he is on school. Their home is the only security they have in the world.

Above all, even if you can't give, please don’t be fooled by feel-good memes about about people with disability into thinking that they and their caregivers are taken care of in our society. They are not!! PLEASE tell your elected representatives that Social Security and DHHS are broken and need emergency triage. These systems make disabled children and their single parents the most vulnerable, the most impoverished, the most desperate and the most hopeless of anyone in our society. Please help financially if you can. If you can't give please call or write your local, state and federal representatives and implore upon them to fix what is broken for people with disabilities and their caregivers. Thank you.
