Help Archer heal from Rite Aid's Mistake

Donation protected
Meet Archer, a 5 year old Mini Aussie. Back on October 16th, his veterinarian wrote a prescription for him to try a very low dose of fluoxetine to try to help his anxiety. This was called in to our local Rite Aid to be filled.

A serious mistake was made and the correctly labeled prescription bottle was filled with the incorrect medication at the pharmacy. He was given that medication as the fluoxetine was prescribed, and Saturday 11/6, we saw some concerning symptoms. By Sunday morning, it could not be ignored something was wrong. He was having involuntary muscle spasms, twitching, loss of motor function, and extreme confusion.

He was rushed to an emergency clinic in Toledo, Ohio. After it was determined the cause of the incident was toxicity from an incorrect prescription, pet poison control was consulted and a care plan began to attempt to stabilize him. His care is now spilt between two emergency clinics with specialty care; one in Ohio and one in Michigan.

I have reached out to Rite Aid, and while their local pharmacy was exceptionally sympathetic, they indicated they could not assist with medical costs. Phone tag has ensued, and I still continue to be told that the legal aspect of them POSSIBLY covering costs is someone else's responsibility, who will "call me tomorrow."

At this time, we have already paid around $4,000 for emergency treatment to attempt to stabilize him, and he's not stable yet. I am very uncomfortable asking for help from anyone...but I don't want my dog to pass from Rite Aid's mistake while we wait to see if the right person will ever call me, let alone take responsibility.

If you are able to donate anything towards Archer's care, it would be more appreciated than you could possibly know. If you are unable to donate, I understand, and appreciate you taking time to read this...but I ask you a favor.

Please, consider sharing this story in hopes that Rite Aid will see and step up as they should. And last, but not least, please hug your dogs for me. We all need more of it.
