Help Arcraig Howard Rebuild His Life

Hey everyone. This is Lauren Holleman, best friend of Arcraig Howard. I’d like to tell you his story.

I met Arcraig my senior year of college at UNT in 2005. He was SO KIND to me. He always invited me to his place to eat (and he could FOR DAMN SHO COOK!!). I remember when someone stole money from me, he empathized with me, saying he’d give me what I lost if he could. Craig’s just like that…He’ll give you his last to make sure you’re okay. He’s always been a strong believer in Jesus Christ, which is the ONLY REASON why he’s still with us today.

Arcraig has not had it easy, especially as of late. He suffers from debilitating mental illness, which has landed him in the hospital numerous times. His mother got killed in a drunk driving accident as she was walking down the street 4 years ago, less than a week before his birthday. This situation exacerbated his mental illness. A few weeks ago, Arcraig attempted suicide. Luckily, he was found in time and got his medication regulated at Green Oaks. But it gets worse from there.

His social worker from the hospital was supposed to set him up in a group home. They didn’t find one. With nothing but a few weeks worth of medication and the clothes on his back, they dropped him off at a homeless shelter. He has no car, no food, barely any clothes…NOTHING. He’s running out of his medication and can’t even afford a bus pass to go pick it up (if he even has money for it, for that matter).

We all go through hard times. Although not as dire as Arcraig’s situation, I’ve been through serious financial issues myself. I wouldn’t have made it without the support of family and friends like you. I’m begging, PLEADING from the bottom of my heart to help out one of my best friends. He needs money for food, clothing, a place to live (although it may be temporary for the time being) and essentials (toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc.). If I could, I’d let him stay with me, but I’m three states over.

PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN. If you can’t give, please post this on your timeline so someone else can. A small amount can go a long way. And please: Pray for him. Pray that the blood of Jesus covers him, that God lights his path, and for strength, peace and knowledge to get him through this awful time.
