Help Ariel Give Medical Care to Ethiopian Orphans

Hello! My name is Ariel Berry and I have been a registered nurse for over 5 years! Caring for people is my passion and my mission in life, whether it be in my community or globally! This June I will be embarking on a medical mission to Ethiopia, partnering with Blessing the Children International, and I would love your support so that I am able to provide essential medical care to this disadvantaged and important population.
Did you know that:
- 2 out of 10 Ethiopian children die before reaching their fifth birthday?
-40% of Ethiopian children are malnourished and stunted?
-Less than 40% of Ethiopian children are attending school?
Blessing the Children International is a foundation that just celebrated its 20th year serving the people of Ethiopia! They are dedicated to serving families and children in Debre Zeyit, especially orphans and widows. Some of their programs include teaching job skills to impoverished widows, a feeding program for local families that has proved invaluable during the pandemic, and creating a school for orphans and underpriviledged children that has around 2,000 students in attendance!
One of Blessing the Children's biggest programs includes a child sponsorship program for orphans around Ethiopia (according to the foundation there are over 4.5 million orphans in Ethiopia at large) and providing them with food, clothing, shelter, and schooling.
This foundation truly has a heart for Ethiopian children and is committed to "Be the Change". In fact, in 2015 Blessing the Children International was chosen as the best NGO by the Ethiopian government.
During my trip to Ethiopia, I will be partnering with the organization to provide nursing care and wellness checks to orphans within the sponsorship program and school, as well as to underserved people within the community. (The orphans in their sponsorship do not have access to healthcare outside what the foundation can provide to them. And currently they only have one nurse to take care of all the children within the school and sponsorship program, so they need volunteers, like me!) I will also be conducting health education clinics and lessons within the community about important topics revolving around disease transmission, Covid-19, and care for common illnesses.
I am so excited to make this dream a reality, and be able to partner with Blessing the Children International to make a global impact. I would be forever grateful if you would donate, any amount helps! Hundreds of beautiful, smiling, healthy orphans will thank you!
