Help Ariel Beat Cancer

Donation protected
On Feb 15 we were given the words no parents ever want to hear "your child has cancer"
Ariel has a craniopharyngioma. It is a rare type of brain tumor derived from pituitary gland embryonic tissue that occurs most commonly in children but also affects adults. This tumor has already taken little Ariel’s vision in her left eye and has left her with 20/150 vision in her right eye. Ariel has already had two brain surgeries to insert a catheter so her tumor could be easily drained, as it was filling with fluid. Unfortunately, the first surgery wasn’t successful, as the tumor was too hard for the shunt to go in. Instead, they had to go under her brain and do a more invasive surgery. The second surgery was successful and they were able to get the catheter in a good spot. We have been back to BC Childrens Hospital for 2 emergencies to get the tumor drained as it was effecting her vision in her right eye. At our meeting with the doctors we were given the following options for Ariel:
(1) leave the tumour but risk death, pituitary gland damage, and complete vision loss;
(2) surgery, which is just as, or more dangerous as leaving it;
(3)treatment with medication that would shrink her tumor and make it so she could potentially go a few months to a year without needing it drained. The treatment would be 3 times a week for 4 weeks in the BC Childrens Hospital. Ariel’s birthday is May 2nd, so she will be there for her 4th birthday. We are located in Nanaimo BC, Vancouver Island. The bills keep coming, and gas and food is all adding up and it is leaving us in a very tight financial situation.

Ariel Seydel, 3 years old, was born on May 2nd 2014. When she arrived into the world in the Nanaimo hospital the weather was just clearing up from a rainy afternoon. She was born at 4:21 p.m. As she arrived the sun started to shine through our window. Displayed in our view was a beautiful double rainbow.

As she grew we could see she was as beautiful and inspiring as the rainbows that welcome her. She was always smiling and loves to meet new people and help them smile too. As soon as she learned to talk she always wanted to engage in a conversation with anyone that would give her attention
