Arjun, a devoted 40 year old husband and father of two amazing young children, is currently facing the most challenging battle of his life. Recently suffering a major stroke paralysing the complete left side of his body, he is confronted with the formidable task of overcoming this medical obstacle.

As we come together to support Arjun, we aim to alleviate the burden he and his family is facing. The road ahead is not an easy one, but with our collective strength and generosity, we can help Arjun navigate this challenging journey towards adjusting to this new way of life, living with the effects of having a stroke.

The upcoming weeks will undoubtedly be a significant step in Arjun's fight for some level of stroke recovery. However, the battle does not end there, he will require ongoing physical and occupational therapy to help determine which areas of his brain have been affected by working to complete various tasks, like walking or brushing his teeth and speech-language therapy. Activities of daily living (ADL) will then become the focus of rehabilitation for Arjun after his stroke. ADL typically include tasks like bathing or preparing food. The goal of this rehabilitation will be to restore function as close as possible to Arjun's prestroke levels or at least develop compensation strategies to work around a functional impairment. An example of a compensation strategy for Arjun is going to have to learn to hold a toothpaste tube so his strong hand can unscrew the cap.
