Help Arnold get the surgery he needs
Donation protected
Arnold has stage 4 emphysema. Breathing has become a major problem. Arnold has never smoked a cigarette in his life. He worked in a manufacturing plant when he was young. Lots of toxic fumes. Paint fumes, welding fumes, metal dust and asbestos. Thats what caused the damage to his lungs. He is on meds and inhalers yet his breathing is getting considerably worse. Getting Zephyr valves implanted would greatly help his quality of life. They are one-way valves that are placed in bad parts of the lungs to keep air from getting trapped. Recently insurance has denied the procedure. Appeals have been denied as well. There are only 2 surgeons in Oregon that do this procedure and there's a long waiting list. The cost is $50,000 and Arnold would have lost wages while he recovers. Medications, CT scans and PET scan along with numerous other breathing tests have incurred more expenses along the way. So surgery could be a long wait. Arnold needs this procedure as soon as possible as he continues to get worse. His continuing to do the things he loves is dependent on getting the Zephyr valves. Playing in JFK, trips to the beach and desert are at risk. Arnold is loved by so many of us! He has entertained us all with his incredible talent even when not feeling his best. Now is the time to help him out if you can!
