Help Arthur get a new motorized wheelchair
Arthur Lucas is a well-known face around downtown Gainesville. His right leg was amputated years ago due to a bone infection. A Good Samaritan recently purchased him a motorized wheelchair to make his life as a houseless person easier. Unfortunately, Arthur was recently hospitalized for nearly a month at UF Health for blood clots in his left leg. During his time in the hospital, his motorized chair was impounded by GPD and seems to be lost for good. We are raising money to help Arthur purchase another chair. The exact model will depend on the amount of money raised. We plan to consult doctors or those familiar with Arthur’s mobility issues as well as Arthur to decide what chair will work best for his needs. His main concerns are good battery life because of the difficulty of finding a place to charge his chair, and a strong enough motor to get up hills without losing power.
Any money left over after the chair is purchased will go to Arthur’s other immediate needs. This fundraiser was posted with Arthur’s full permission.
