Aryah Rose’s CP Journey

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Delijah Symonds and I’m fundraising for our 2 year old warrior princess Aryah Rose Symonds-Govia. Aryah is a pediatric stroke survivor with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. We currently live in Bermuda where resources for persons with disabilities are extremely limited. I am Aryah’s mother/ full time caregiver as there is no care facility on island equipped for her needs. We travel to Boston Children’s Hospital multiple times a year to see her teams (Pediatric Neurologist, Ophthalmologist, Cerebral Palsy Clinic, Aerodigestive, Physical and Occupational Therapists).
We are always looking for ways to maximize her development as her stroke has completely destroyed her motor cortex causing major global developmental delays including speaking, sitting, walking and crawling. She is G-Tube dependent and requires expensive specialized equipment for mobility and support. Aryah is a strong and happy little girl who is determined to thrive. In June 2023 we have planned to take her to Calgary, Alberta Canada for a therapy intensive program called SMILE (Sensory Motor Integrated Learning Experience Therapy for Kids) where she will have 20+ hours of Physical and Occupational Therapy over a two week period. According to NIH and NAPA the gold standard for Cerebral Palsy early intervention is daily traditional therapy accompanied by intensive therapy every 3 months and home care program. It is my hopes that we can raise the funds necessary to make this opportunity a reality for Aryah. Any contribution that you are able to make would be greatly appreciated.

We are grateful for the community response we have received in the last 24 hours. We have decided to share details of some of the equipment we are currently sourcing for Aryah. Your contributions would not only go towards her quarterly SMILE/ NAPA program visits but also towards these items as they are only partially covered by Aryah’s insurance.

UPDATE April 20, 2023
Firstly, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the support we have received for our CP Warrior thus far. Walking such an incredibly difficult path it warms our hearts that the communities near and far are coming together to help us. Unfortunately there will be no end to the expenses necessary to maximize Aryah’s development. We have decided to extend our fundraising goals for additional costs that will arise such as:
-caregiver/ nurse to accompany our girl so she can attend school in September 2023
-additional equipment

-NAPA Center I World-Renowned Pediatric Therapy

Update 2024!
Aryah’s Attitude of Gratitude! <3
Because of all the generous donations over the past year I have been able to attend 2 therapy intensives in 2023 and I’m scheduled to have 4 this year! I’ve also been able to get my Rifton Gait Trainer and my Rifton Wave Bathing System! Your continued support will help me complete my intensives this year and continue to work towards getting some of the best equipment for my development.
