Help Asaad Nateel and Family Get to Safety
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Laura Beckman. I’m from Brooklyn, New York and I’ve been activated over the past six months to combat the terrible violence being perpetrated “in my name”. I am raising funds to help Asaad Nateel, a 21-year-old college student and photographer, evacuate to safety with his parents and six siblings. I met Asaad through my online advocacy, and have gotten to know him and his family over time. We are in regular contact via phone and messenger.

Here is Asaad’s story in his own words:

My name is Asaad Nateel.
I am 21 years old and a college student. I study biomedical engineering in my third year. I've been working as a photographer for four years and offer educational courses in photography. My family consists of nine people: my parents, my brother Yasser (19 years old), my sisters Raghad (17), Zeina (15), Asil (13), Reemas (9), and my brother Kenan (1 year and 8 months). We lost our family home, which was built in 2021 but couldn't complete the construction payments.

The funds raised will be use for the following purposes:
$53,500 To pay for the evacuation fees and transportation from the border into Cairo of 9 family members. Including 5 adults and 4 children (roughly $7,500 per adult and approximately $4,000 per child)
The other $30,000 can be divided as follows:
- $10,000 for shelter and rent for the first 6 months in Egypt
- Approximately $2,000 for clothing and luggage for 9 people.
- Approximately $6,000 can be allocated for decent household furniture, including kitchenware, living room, bedroom, and food necessities.
- I also need at least $20,000 for photography equipment to be able to start my business.

From Laura: the most urgent goal is to raise funds for evacuation, but Asaad and I want to be as transparent as possible about the fact that after evacuation, they will need those additional funds listed to rebuild their lives and futures, considering that all of their belongings and equipment needed for Asaad's career was destroyed in the bombardment. We appreciate your understanding <3
