Help Asher Fight Liver Cancer at 16 Months Old

My name is Nick, and this is the story of my precious one-year-old son, Asher, and his unexpected battle with cancer.

My wife, Ambra, and I met and fell in love at Youngstown State University. I joined the Air Force to serve our country and build a future for my family. We were overjoyed to welcome Asher into the world in November 2023, after two heartbreaking miscarriages. His name, Asher, means "happy" or "blessed" in Hebrew, and he truly was our rainbow baby.

To be closer to our families in Ohio, we recently relocated from my Air Force base in Nebraska. We were settling into a simple life, filled with the joys of new parenthood and surrounded by loved ones.

Then, our world shattered. During a routine checkup, our pediatrician discovered a mass in Asher's abdomen. After days of agonizing tests, we received the devastating diagnosis: Metastatic Hepatoblastoma Carcinoma – liver cancer that has spread to his lungs. This incredibly rare cancer affects only one in a million children in the United States each year.

Ambra and I are heartbroken. Our sweet baby boy, just beginning his life, is facing a terrifying illness. We cling to our faith and trust that God will guide us through this storm.

Asher has already undergone surgery to have a port placed for chemotherapy. He faces many rounds of chemo, with the initial goal of shrinking the tumor on his liver enough for it to be surgically removed. After surgery, he will endure more chemotherapy to fight the cancer in his lungs.

The road ahead is long and uncertain. We don't know how many more days we'll spend in the hospital, how much work I'll miss, or how we'll manage the mounting medical expenses. But we do know that we are not alone.

We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. So many have offered to help, and we are incredibly grateful. This GoFundMe page has been created to share Asher's journey, gather prayer warriors to lift him up, and accept financial assistance to help ease the burdens we face.

We are unsure of the total costs, but we have faith that God will provide for all our needs – emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial.
