Help Asher Heal: Cover Medical and Moving Costs

Hi everyone, I’m Asher’s friend Ollie, and I am raising money to help my dear friend with medical bills and moving expenses after several physical and mental health crises this year. Asher is such a kind, loving, and supportive friend and community member-- in the midst of all of these health challenges, the absolute last thing they should have to worry about is medical bills. It would mean so much to me if you have anything to donate! If you aren’t in a place to donate, spreading the word and sharing with your social networks would be so appreciated. Asher has put so much love and energy into everything they do, and I am honored to take this time to give some of that love and energy back.

A little bit more about the situation (all shared with Asher’s permission):

As some of you might know, in December 2024, Asher had a mental health emergency that resulted in a several day hospital stay. Despite increased care and therapy, Asher experienced another mental health crisis in January 2025, resulting in another several day hospital stay. After these two hospitalizations, Asher made the tough decision to move from Hawaii (where they had been living for several years) back to Minnesota, where they have access to a wider support network.

All of us Minnesotans are incredibly glad to have them back, and Asher still needs some support to help get back on their feet. In the huge (and sudden) move across the country, Asher was forced to get rid of almost everything they owned, and they’ve had to take a large chunk of time off of work in order to move and enroll in a Partial Hospitalization Program to support their ongoing mental health healing.

The funds will be used to pay off the existing medical debt (Asher has insurance, but we all know how messed up the U.S. insurance and healthcare system is), including these recent hospitalizations and past medical bills for physical therapy for carpal tunnel, as well as the required month-long Partial Hospitalization Program. During this month-long program, Asher will be unable to work, and our support will help them to heal without the stress of accruing more debt. The funds will also support Asher in the form of a deposit for an apartment in Minnesota close to their loved ones, as well as replacement furniture to help them rebuild their life here.
