Help Asher Wright fight the big C!

Donation protected

Hi!

My name is Maria Galente and my very dear friends Tara and Josh Wright are having to face the unimaginable. Their 6yr old son, Asher, has been diagnosed with B Cell Leukemia.

It all started a couple of months back when Asher got sick. He caught 5th disease and it just seemed like it didn't want to go away. After some time he started to have these "episodes" where he would develop a high fever and rashes on his body. They would last a day or so or more and then go away like it was never a thing! It would come and go so randomly and there was no rhyme or reason for it. After multiple visits and tests, they still didn't have an answer. Last month he started to develop the episodes again, this time with the inability to walk, or move certain joints/muscles without excruciating pain. These "flare ups" would come without notice, have a fever and rash join it, and go away just as fast as it came on. A couple of Dr and Hospital visits later they thought they had an answer- Pediatric Rheumatoid Arthritis. They were able to find a specialist and schedule an appointment to get it all checked out/confirmed on August 13th, 2021.

Unfortunately that appointment never came. On Friday August 6th, 2021 Asher had been unable to walk or break his fever for 2 days. Tara and Josh decided that enough was enough and they packed a bag and drove up to MUSC in Charleston. That evening he was admitted to the Children's Hospital and the battery of tests were started. On Sunday they decided to do a Bone Marrow Biopsy. Monday morning Asher went in for surgery. His first time ever being put under. He had his biopsy and kept fighting his fever, but finally that afternoon the fever broke and he was able to walk again. Monday Night they got the news- Biopsy came back positive, Asher has B Cell Leukemia.

These next few months are going to be a long road for them all. Asher has started Chemo and been moved up to the Oncology Floor at MUSC Children's Hospital. He has been there for a week now, and will be there at least another week before they can consider sending him home. Once home he will be traveling back and forth between Bluffton and MUSC (1.5hrs each way) on a weekly basis for his treatments. There could be more hospital stays depending on how his body reacts to the treatment.

I have decided, with the permission of Tara and Josh, to start this go fund me to help them with this journey. We are hopeful that Insurance can help cover most of it, but there will still be a lot of expenses during this journey such as Gas, Food, Etc. With Covid still in full swing, and his diagnosis, he is extremely immunocompromised and therefore cannot attend school, or leave his house other then his treatment visits. They are going to have to rely on friends, family and your support here to help cover the expenses of added groceries, trips to Charleston, medical bills and anything else that might come up. Tara has closed her business in order to focus solely on Asher and his recovery so they have lost that added income.

Any help or support you can provide is truly appreciated. You are welcome to share this page with whomever you see fit. Tara and I will be updating it as much as we can.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our Hearts for any and all support and prayers.
