Ashley doesn't know about this campaign because, as we all know, she wouldn't want people worrying about her. However, so many people have asked how they can help, so let's help Ashley and Aaron pay some of the medical bills and associated expenses - give them one less thing to worry about.
Ashley Payne is my best friend of 39 years. We were born eight days apart and grew up across the street from each other. Last summer Ashley went to the doctor complaining of pain in her lower abdomen. After multiple visits to her Doctor, it was confirmed that she had two tumors. She immediately had surgery to remove the tumors, and they told her the tumors were not cancerous only to call her a week later to retract their statement. The tumors were secondary cancer.
After months of tests, multiple doctors and procedures, my best friend was diagnosed with Stage 4 Appendix cancer (one of the rarest cancers). They removed her appendix, and she has undergone aggressive chemotherapy for the past six months. The chemotherapy literally puts her in bed 10 of the 14 days in between treatments. She undergoes her last treatment of this round on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Ashley's journey may not be over. She may have to undergo HIPEC surgery and/or another year of chemo. The thought of this is heartbreaking.
Ashley is the best mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend that anyone could ask for. She lives her life helping others and would do anything for anyone. Now, we need to help her. Throughout this long journey, there are many expenses that are not covered by insurance. All funds collected will go directly to Ashley and Aaron to help offset these expenses. Any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated. We want to take some of the financial stress off Ashley and Aaron so that they can focus on beating cancer.
