Help Ashley Recover from Being Hit by a Car

Please consider helping Ashley with the bills and lost income from being hit by a car while visiting family in Florida. On the evening of Thursday, June 23rd, 2022, Ashley was at the start of a long-planned vacation to Florida, beginning with a visit to her grandmother in Ocala. After dinner, Ashley and her friend she was traveling with decided to take a walk.

Ashley and her friend were walking in her grandmother's neighborhood when a car swerved and struck Ashley from behind. The vehicle dragged her down the road before it came to a halt. The driver had been on their phone when she hit Ashley and was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and no car insurance.

An ambulance brought Ashley to the local hospital's trauma ICU, where she was stabilized. They determined she had multiple injuries, including:

Pelvis suffered numerous breaks and detached from her spine
Left humerus suffered multiple fractures
Right femur suffered multiple fractures
Right tibia broken
Right fibula broken
Right clavicle broken
Nine broken ribs
Multiple chipped vertebrae
Lacerations on her spleen and liver
2nd degree burns over 6% of her body (road rash from being dragged)

Ashley has 19 broken bones across her entire body, along with the other external and internal damage caused by the car accident. Over the course of almost two weeks, she received 7 surgeries. Due to the extent of her injuries, Ashley will have to recover in a long-term care facility until she can hopefully travel home to complete her physical rehabilitation and learn to walk again.

Ashley's friends and family have supported her throughout this, traveling from North Carolina and Illinois to be with her. She is currently on leave from work, using sick and vacation time. Due to the driver's young age and lack of insurance - it's anticipated that Ashley will not get very much financial assistance from this accident. She will have medical bills, lost income from work, and legal fees to hold this person responsible.
