Help Aster Get Back on His Paws: Urgent Medical Care needed.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea to support my 2-year-old dog, Aster, who urgently needs additional veterinary care. Last year, Aster underwent a Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgery to address a torn ACL, and with your generous help, we were able to cover the costs for this life-changing procedure. Over the past year, Aster has made remarkable progress, and we hope to eventually get back to his favorite activities like forest hikes, swimming, and playing with his dog pals.

However, despite our best efforts, Aster’s recovery has recently plateaued, and he has even begun to regress. Despite ongoing pain medication, weekly Cartrophen injections, and adjustments to his activity level, Aster continues to limp and struggle with discomfort. Concerned by this lack of progress, we consulted with our veterinarian, who recommended further investigation.

The x-rays, which required sedation, revealed a troubling diagnosis: Aster is suffering from an infection in his pubic bone, potentially fungal or bacterial osteomyelitis. This serious condition poses a significant risk, as it could spread and become life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Our immediate goal is to identify whether the infection is bacterial or fungal so that we can initiate the appropriate treatment. This will involve further blood tests and possibly a prolonged course of medication. If the infection is fungal, Aster might need up to a year of expensive antifungal treatment, with regular blood tests to monitor his progress.

As a single parent on disability, managing these unexpected costs is a tremendous financial challenge. To date, I have spent over $2,000 on x-rays and initial bloodwork, and I anticipate needing at least an additional $1,000 for further tests and treatment.

It is incredibly difficult for me to ask for help, but Aster’s well-being is paramount. We would be profoundly grateful for any support you can provide, whether through a donation or by sharing our fundraising campaign with your network.
