Help Sweet Asya Heal
On Monday, January 13, 2020, I was driving home through heavy traffic in my unmarked police car. I work for a local law enforcement agency. In front of me was a busy intersection and what appeared to be a crash. There were several people in the roadway, angry drivers & then I saw a lady holding a medium size dog in the air. Immediately I turned on my blue lights as I realized there had been a crash...but it involved a precious dog named Asya. I blocked traffic and took Asya into my arms.
With the help of a Good Samaritan, Tracy Shimp, we got her to an emergency vet. The vet techs started their magic and made her as comfortable as possible. Asya had horrible lacerations and exposed bones. She was crying and shaking when we brought her in. She soon calmed down with pain medication. The X-rays showed she had several pelvic fractures as well as the severe lacerations.
We finally located her owner with the help of another Good Samaritan, Patty, who runs a local lost & found pet social media page. After a week, the owners relinquished custody to Tracy & me helping. Our hearts are all in it to save the life of this precious, sweet dog. The owners lived far away and could not take on the burden of helping their pet.
We started a medical plan and a little over a week later, we were told she may have some spinal cord damage. More tests are being done along with the pelvic fracture repair & wound care.
Asya is such a sweet dog and only four years old. She’s got a fighting spirit and has so much love to give. We are rescuing her with your help! Please consider giving this sweet girl a chance. She was dealt a really unfair hand. We believe in her and the specialists working with her injuries.
Patty, Tracy & I have formed a team to help with Asya’s care. Tracy is able to provide around the clock care after she’s released from the vet.
