Help Athena move (by Nov. 1'st) to save Cats!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christina and I'm fundraising to help Athena move. Athena has an exciting opportunity to put her cat rescue experience to work at a new job as a Wellness Assistant at ASAP Cats rescue in Santa Barbara! Her new job starts on November 1st. However, she has had some recent unexpected veterinary expenses and is now unable to afford the move from Texas to California, without your help! If you know her you know how passionate she is about animals and what a wonderful opportunity this new job will be!

From Athena:
"I have fostered over one hundred cats and kittens over the last 4 years, with ages ranging from two weeks to approximately two years. In that time, I have cared for bottle babies; treated upper respiratory infections, FELV, parasites, skin infections, and panleukopenia; nursed cats through open wounds, enucleations, and amputations; and worked on behavioral rehabilitation with feral/semi-feral kittens. Some of the tasks I have used for these endeavors have included administering oral medication, subcutaneous fluids, medicated eye drops and gels, hydrotherapy, and handling irate feral kittens in a way that is safe and humane. I also have a deep understanding of the importance of maintaining a sanitary environment to prevent cross-contamination of diseases in cats... I am passionate about improving lives (both animal and human) and bring extensive experience in caring for cats' medical, and overall, well-being.”
Here is a breakdown of her moving costs:
Gas $400
Necessary Car Repairs $475
2 motel stops $120
Uhaul rental $450
Trailer hitch installation $515
Apart from helping cats and kittens, I am passionate about helping Athena move because this is the kind of unexpected cost that parents can sometimes assist with. Athena and her sisters lost both their parents to cancer when she was just starting college. Her mother Janice was an elementary school teacher, and her father Aaron was a chemistry professor. I was lucky enough to grow up with Athena and get to know them.
While there are many people in the community of people who love Athena, we're all mostly young-ish and $2k is a lot to ask of any one person. So I'm creating this Gofundme so that, as a community, we can help Athena together.
Athena and I know that even $20 can be a lot for many people, so any amount is extremely helpful! Please also share this with your friends and family, especially those who know Athena or who love animals!
Sincerely,
Christina Boardman
