Dear Friends,
My name is Aulani Morris and I am from Barton, Vermont. I am so excited to be sharing my journey to the religious life with you. I have been discerning the religious life since my sophomore year of college and I have chosen to follow the Lord’s call to the religious life and to eventually, through the will of God, become his spouse. However, there is one obstacle that is preventing me from pursuing a life of servitude and love. I have to pay off my student loans of $30,000 before I enter.
My Vocation is Love
When I first began college at Franciscan University of Steubenville, I was unsure of what the Lord had planned for me. I remember one day walking to class and I passed the small chapel on campus called “The Portiuncula”. I stopped and asked the Lord, “What is Your Will for me Lord?” It would only be a few short days later as I sat outside holy hour that I experienced God’s answer to my question. I felt an overwhelming call to the religious life. I smile now for it was a time of complete joy and enlightenment for me. Of course at first I was scared, for everything was so new and foreign, yet so complete. In those moments I felt embraced with God’s love and acceptance. This strong desire to pursue a complete union with Christ is like when you meet the love of your life and you will do anything to secure those bonds that connect you.
I once told my sister that we all need to decide what our vocation in life is. One can choose to live in the world and help those in the world. Or one can choose to be not of the world yet be instruments of the Lord through prayer, self-sacrifice, obedience, love, and penance. I choose to be an instrument of the Lord. I choose a vocation of love and to enter into a life of complete union with our Beloved Jesus Christ. I love what St. Mother Teresa says about our vocation, “Wherever God has put you, that is your vocation. It is not what we do but how much love we put into it.” Wow is that not powerful? Where ever we are in life is where God has put us and it depends on how much energy, and love we put into it that determines how we live our vocation.
So please help me achieve my vocation of love . For God has showed me my vocation but I cannot reach it without your generosity. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated and know that you all will be in my prayers and in my thoughts.
I have been accepted into the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles in Gower, Missouri. However, in order for me to enter in the fall I need to be debt-free so I rely on your generosity to get me there. So please pray for me as I will be praying for all of you.
