Help Aunt Cindy fight breast cancer

Hi family and friends,

 

I'm Jeanine. I am setting up this fundraiser for my Aunt Cindy. She was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer in January. My Aunt and Uncle own a dog grooming business, Aunty' s grooming, in Lathrop, CA. This business means the world to them. My Uncle Tony is her caregiver, still working and trying to keep their business going. Since Cindy is self-employed, there is no disability or financial help. The medical bills are growing, and the loss of income is a huge stress for them. A stress that someone fighting breast cancer should not have to deal with. 

 

Here is her story so far: The plan was to start with chemo to shrink the tumor, then do a lumpectomy and antibody therapy. But things didn't go as planned. Before chemo started, Cindy developed a skin issue tentatively diagnosed as Erythroderma. It caused muscle pain and weakness. The skin issue had to be treated with steroids, and chemo started on 3/3. A few days later, Cindy collapsed at home from severe muscle weakness. My uncle took her to the hospital, which resulted in a ten-day stay. Cindy was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis, a rare muscle infection. Chemo was delayed again. Cancer caused "bad" antibodies that attacked her muscles, so IVIG treatments are being given to make her stronger. Cindy's chemo is set to start again, and depending on how chemo goes, there will be a new treatment plan.
